in this screenshot you see i put a drafting view on a sheet..

that dimension for the driveway opening reads 6 feet- but

it's supposed to be 40 feet..

if i change the view scale- the drawing won't fit on the sheet..

please somebody tell me how i can make that drive entrance

show a measurment of 40 feet and still fit on the sheet..

If you measure the distance using the tape measure do you get 40 feet or 6 feet?  Perhaps your drawing is not to scale.  Changing the view scale should not change the value of the dimension.

the tape measure also reads 6 feet..

this is a gas station i traced from google earth..

that east side driveway opening is 40 feet- not

the 6 feet it is measuring..

i'm trying to get the dimensions the same as they

really are.. when i change the view scale it only

changes the size of the drawing on screen or

on a sheet- but doesn't set the proper dimensions

in relation to what they really are in the image..

i've seem somebody do this before- so this is

beginner level stuff.. i'm just worse than a beginner

even though i've been doing revit for way too long..

oh wait a minute- i think it has something to do with

changing the scale of the image??? could that be it?

no no- you change the SIZE of the image to

match the drafting dimensions.. i haven't

tried it yet.. but that could be it..

unless somebody knows something

about this..

You need to scale the image first.  In your case you know the dimension of the driveway, so use that to scale your image.  If you have just drafted over the image you should be able to just resize the image so that the driveway measures 40 feet.
