I am trying to have a parameter which will change the separation between two extrusions in revit 8. I can set the parameter onto the dimension fine, but how are you supposed to control which end of the dimension will actually move when the value is changed, since it seems to be pretty much random which side moves. I suppose locking it to a reference plane or something like that could for it to move the other, but if anyone knows of a less "workaround-ish" way to do it I would appreciate it.

yes, you will need to use reference plains, there is nothing complicated about it. i made one side a strong referece and put the dimension parameter and the other extrusion is the one moving. I guess that's what you're after...?

Hey eldados, thanks for the reply
I guess if there is no other way I can use reference planes or lines for everything *sigh.* I was just hoping that someone knows what the actual logic is behind which of two extrusions without reference lines will be moved by a parametric dimension.
