Hi, I am considering doing a one day course "Introdution to rendering in Revit".

My main question is, do you think it is worth it?

One main issue is that I've heard that I would be much better of learnign 3d studio max then Revit to render.

I previously used ArchiCAD 11 and was happy with renderings there (even though i knew rather little). Anyone know how the two compare. I heard that 2009 was a big improvement... basically please enlighten me ... i need to decide wether its worth paying to do this 1 day course. Thanks

Unless we need a really pretty picture for something, almost all of our renderings are done directly in Revit with the new mental ray engine.  It is certainly not a waste of your time to learn rendering in Revit.... but I wouldn't pay for it, it's so easy you can teach yourself in a day.  Just play around with a really simple model.

i would agree with render enginee in revit is simple to teach yourself.

what would be worth it is if you could get someone to teach you how to use the features in max that you need to get the high end renders done.

but make sure the know max inside out and also know revit well, or at least the workflows from revit to max. using fxb i find is not always suitable. we go revit - dwg (explode curtain panles etc. change to layer per material) -max -vray -renderfarm.

maybe not ideal but can't get the max guys to move to mentalray.
