How do you change the background of a text edit box from being white to black.

Our office uses yellow as a text color and its hard to see when editing on a white background.  i can't seem to find the right box to click.

Is the yellow a cad carry-over or do you print in color?

If it's cad ... I would change that thought process.  We do not have layers in REVIT.

The yellow is a carry over from our cad drawings.  Not a layer issue. It's just the color we've used for our text and its line weight has been set for plotting our cad drawings.  If we change our text color in Revit will we have an issue when we start to import cad details to use in Revit. (change all the cad text to a different color prior to import not a big deal...........just wondering)  i'm new to revit and haven't imported any details to use as of yet or any plots for that matter.  It would be nice to get off on the right foot.  What would you suggest?

Go to settiongs - options - graphics - and invert your background color.

This is not exactly what you asked to do, but it will change your white background to black which is what I do when working with inported cad drawings.

i have my graphics background changed to black already.  We have 32" flat screens and the white background for modeling is a little intense.  My issue occurs when i click on a piece of text to edit.  it changes to back to white.  i'd like to invert the text edit box.

Because you don't need colors in REVIT, I think that you will find the majority of users now prefer the white screen.  It did seem to over-power at first but it seems to work better.  And besides that .... make a clean break from CAD!

I think you may have several problems with what you are doing.  You need to watch out importing a lot of CAD work.  If you explode it, you will end up with a different linetype for every drawing/layer.  BAD!  Hatches are even worse!  Always clean up CAD drawings if you will explode them.

From the REVIT HELP:  "ting Line Weights for Imported DWG or DXF Files function hideInfo() { info = document.getElementById('infoline'); info.innerHTML = ' '; info.style.visibility = 'hidden'; } function showInfo(title) { info = document.getElementById('infoline'); info.innerHTML = title; info.style.visibility='visible'; }When you import a DWG or DXF file, each layer in the file is assigned a line weight based on the pen number-line weight settings. Revit Architecture can import pen numbers from a DWG or DXF file and map them to a Revit Architecture line weight. You can then save these mappings in a text file, and they become the set mappings for the project."   Note - This appears to be pen by layer - NOT color.  If so... set the file but import with covert to all black set.

I think you need to consider coverting to REVIT details.  Why?  Because then you don't need to work in CAD!!!This will help you get into being a true Revit user. Takes a little time but you will fin, like the majority of us, that you will be able to do more with Revit detailing then you ever did in CAD ... and you will hate using CAD.

I do agree with WWHub, try to break with the CAD-thinking. I know it's not easy at first, but if you try you will find out that also detailling in Revit is very much fun to do.

But if you still want to import CAD-details into your Revit model try the following. When you link your CAD details set the colors on black and white. In that case it's no problem to draw with colors like yellow and cyan which are very difficult to see at a white background.

i've made the switch to the white background.

it's taking a little getting used to but i'm sure i'll manage.  Not to sure about some of the old die hard cad guy's here.  Might have to work them over a bit.

i'll try the black and white import.  We have alot of standard details that would be nice to use rather than redraw.

Thanks
