What Typhoon is getting at is that your window may be very large because of the imported CAD file having things all over the place.  Because of that, your building might be a spec.  You could turn off the cad files in VG - then do a ZA and your building should now fill the window.

Ok, try this, in your 3D view, ZA then make a "crossing selection" and go to the "Filters" and see if there are elements in that view...

Did you make sure model elements were on and all linked or inserted cad files were turned off and then did a zoom all?

I'm sure you did not.... unless you are not telling us everything.  Do you have the right worksets on?  .... phases?

Another way ... while in 3d, find a family element in your browser that you know is in the model ... like a wall or door.  Right click on it in the browser and select all instances.  It will flag where these are.... and it will be a tiny spec somewhere on your screen - zoom that window area.

Click on VG and check all the worksets are on, also check all worksets are open from File menu>>Worsets. Click on VP and check which phase you are using.

You can also delete the default 3D view in the project browser and click on the 3D button from the toolbar.
