Hi, awhile back I created a generic model family within my project to act as facade slats that create a moire on the facade. Now, these slats are generic models, and I am having a problem making them act as wood, because now the lcient decided on what material to make them. I have tried the Object Settings technique for the Generic Models, with no success. Please help. Thanks.

Edit your in-place family. Set the material you want for the slats within the family. You may also want to explore using a sweep to produce the slats as it might be easier to do. HTH Tom

the only way i can think of editting the material of the in place family would be to add a parameter. When adding this parameter, and changing the material, still no material when this inplace family is rendered.

You have to go deeper into the family. If you used a sweep for instance for each slat, you need to edit that individual sweeps material property. This is why I suggested using the Revit hosted wall sweep instead as it makes the material assignment easier. Tom
