Does Revit keep back-up files in a default location, or are they kept with the original file? If there is a default location/folder, can anyone tell me where it may be?

the backup files are in the directory that the original file lives in and has the same name as the original file exceot the extension is filename.001.rvt with the largesr 00? number being the most recent. The other location is under drive C:\Program Files\Revit Architecture 2009\Journals good luck!
