This seems like I'm missing something really obvious, but I haven't figured out why this won't work. When creating roofs or slabs that have a flat bottom and tapered top, is it possible to have all layers abover the "variable" one match the pitch? For example, I have a roof with a flat metal deck, rigid insulation and a waterproofing membrane on top. In this assembly, I obviously want to taper the insulation. I can assign that layer as "variable" and use the point editing technique, but my result only tapers the insualtion while the waterproof membrane stays perfectly horizontal. Is there a way of forcing the upper layer (waterproof membrane in this case) to equal the pitch of a tapered layer underneath it?

So when you make the insulation layer variable it cause your top layer of membrane to go through your insulation? This doesnt make sense...I have a slab that varies with a top coat of ucrete that maintains a 3/8" thickness and it slopes along with the rest of the floor, the slab itself just changes thicknesses. Can you post a pic?

Ah-ha...solved it. Turns out I was being dumb and was merely having a lineweight problem. Thanks for the help anyways.
