version 2009, I have read in the help menu how I can rotate true north so that I can have accurate sun direction.  we have consultant revit files linked into our model and vise verse.  If I rotate true north, will this mess up the orientation of our project file when our consultants link it in?

The consultant should be able to "Acquire Coordinates from linked file". You can publish or acquire actual coordinates from either file. Once this is done the two files will align in the same location. To do this the consultant needs to click on the linked architectural file with the correct orientation and go to properties. There is a parameter called Shared location. This parameter will allow the user to inherit the coordinates from the linked file. This may also need to be performed on the Arch file if you are cross linking the consultants file back into the Arch file.

This is a little confusing I know but give it a try and let us know if you have any problems.

Hi, what you say it's correctly, (the other versions have too the "True North"Winking if you rotate by "True North" all your model rotate to that position, if you give that proj. to your consultant before you have rotated, when you link the model from him there are problems because there are 2 diferents "Rotations" in those models. So, to prevent this you must rotate the model before you giving from your consultants, you can solve the problem too after rotated with "Shared Coordinates", but this is another "Story"...
