I have created an existing plan, three options of demo plan and a renovated plan using the design option and everything about the drawings are good it seems. On the ‘existing plan’ I showed two existing elements only – the existing walls and the electrical outlets. However, problems arise when I started to make walls and electrical fixtures schedules.
  1. On the “new” wall schedule it shows an extra row of wall which I have no idea where it came from.
  2. on the “new” electrical fixture schedule – all the new fixtures I added seems to be duplicated by I donno how. Eg. There are suppose to be 32 new fixtures but the schedule shown to have 64 instead. and upon checking the drawing on all the new fixtures i found that there is another copy of each of the new fixture.
Can you please advice what I did wrong? I am using  revit 2009 version.

First, if you have duplicates of items, REVIT didn't add anything, you did somehow.

Second, design options can be tricky - especially when you have multiples.   Because the host for hosted elements has to reside in the design option, you have to have duplicates of some items but if they have been added correctly, they should only be in their own design option.  If you setup multiple views with the design option set to the correct option rather than using "automatic" it will help you keep track of what you are doing.

You also need to setup multiple schedules that also filter by design option.

Under tools, use  the review warnings tool to find duplicate elements and delete the duplicate.  If you are not sure what it is, you can use "show" or you can copy down the ID number and find element by ID to see where and what you have problems with.  From within a schedule, you can also use show to find objects that are suspect.

<<you have to have duplicates of some items but if they have been added correctly, they should only be in their own <<design option.

This is what i did :

1. walls created as existing were then ADDED to the design option - all of em.

2. electrical fixtures created as existing on those walls were also added to the design option similar as step 1.

This was all basically what was done - which was pretty straight forward to me and i still dont see where the problem lies though even with ref. your suggestions.

Did you copy>paste to the design options?  if you did then they still exist in the main model + whatever is the design option would roughly/exactly double the number of fixtures.

Please do a review warnings and identify your duplicate items.  If there is a problem with the conversion from 2008 to 2009 then you should report it to AutoDESK.  They may want to see your file so they can correct the problem.
